Fintan O'Regan

Fintan works with young people, parents and schools to develop a clearer understanding of the factors that may be affecting learning, behaviour, organisation and relationships, and to identify practical strategies that can support a young person more effectively at home and at school.

His work is particularly focused on ADHD, autism and other neurodevelopmental differences, and on understanding how these may affect attention, motivation, self regulation, organisation, learning and behaviour.

Parent and Family Consultation

Fintan offers individual consultation to parents who are looking for practical guidance in supporting a neurodivergent child or young person. This may include reviewing previous assessments and school reports, alongside considering a young person’s learning, behavioural and social history. From this, he works with families to develop practical strategies that can be used at home and, where appropriate, shared with school.

Behaviour and Learning Support

Fintan does not look at behaviour in isolation. He is interested in understanding what may sit underneath difficulties with attention, engagement, motivation, organisation, behaviour or social interaction, and how these may relate to a young person’s learning profile, developmental needs and environment. He works with families and professionals to develop practical approaches that recognise the individual young person’s strengths and needs.

His particular areas of experience include ADHD, autism and overlapping behavioural and learning differences.

School Consultation

Fintan also works directly with schools to consider how the learning environment can more effectively support an individual child or young person.

This may involve looking at classroom learning and behaviour, organisation and homework, structured and unstructured parts of the school day, communication between home and school, and the wider systems of support around a student.

Fintan also works with schools to consider how neurodiversity is understood and supported across teaching, pastoral and SEND provision.

Parent Guidance and Training

Fintan provides guidance and training for parents and carers supporting children and young people with different learning, behavioural and neurodevelopmental profiles.

This may include understanding neurodivergence, supporting attention and concentration, developing structure and boundaries, organisation and homework, communication, peer and family relationships, self esteem and resilience.

School Staff Coaching and Training

In addition to his work with individual families, Fintan provides consultation, coaching and training for teachers, pastoral staff, SEND teams and school leadership.

This can range from coaching individual teachers around the needs of particular students to broader work around inclusive practice, behaviour for learning and whole school approaches to neurodiversity.
